Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2, 2026

These Terms of Service apply to the Alliance Bookkeeping Services website and to bookkeeping services provided by Alliance Bookkeeping Services, except where a signed engagement letter or written agreement states otherwise. If there is a conflict between these terms and a signed engagement letter, the engagement letter will govern for the specific client engagement.

Scope of Services

Bookkeeping services are provided according to the agreed package, proposal, or engagement letter. Services may include monthly bookkeeping, bank and credit card reconciliation, GST/PST tracking or filing support, financial reporting, QuickBooks Online setup and support, catch-up or cleanup work, and year-end preparation support.

Out-of-Scope Work

Work outside the agreed scope may be billed separately at the agreed hourly rate or quoted before work begins. Examples may include unusually high transaction volume, missing records, extensive cleanup, additional accounts, special reporting, late filing support, payroll-related work, or urgent turnaround requests.

Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and timely records, maintaining original supporting documentation, reviewing reports and filings, responding to questions, and advising Alliance Bookkeeping Services of material business changes. We rely on the information provided by the client and are not responsible for errors caused by incomplete, inaccurate, or late information.

No Audit, Review, Assurance, Legal, or Tax Opinion

Bookkeeping services do not constitute an audit, review, compilation engagement, assurance engagement, legal advice, or formal tax opinion. Financial reports are prepared from information provided by the client and are intended to support business decision-making and year-end preparation.

Tax Filing and Compliance Support

Where GST/PST tracking or filing support is included, the client remains responsible for final review, approval, payment, and compliance with applicable deadlines unless otherwise agreed in writing. Clients should consult a qualified tax professional or CPA for tax planning, tax advice, or complex tax matters.

Access to Accounting Systems

Clients may be asked to provide appropriate user access to QuickBooks Online, bank feed data, receipt tools, or other bookkeeping platforms. Clients should not share passwords directly where secure user-based access is available.

Payment Terms

Fees, billing frequency, and due dates are set out in the applicable package, proposal, invoice, or engagement letter. Late payments may result in paused work, delayed deliverables, or termination of services. Outstanding fees remain payable after termination.

Confidentiality

Both parties agree to protect non-public business, financial, and personal information. Confidential information may be disclosed where required by law, authorized by the client, or necessary to provide the agreed services through trusted service providers.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Alliance Bookkeeping Services is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages. Liability for a service issue is limited to the fees paid for the specific services giving rise to the claim. This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law.

Record Retention

Clients remain responsible for retaining original business records and supporting documents required by law. Alliance Bookkeeping Services may retain working papers and client records as reasonably necessary for service delivery, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and business records management.

Termination

Either party may end the service relationship according to the engagement letter or by written notice where no engagement letter applies. Work may be paused or terminated for non-payment, lack of client cooperation, professional conflict, or other reasonable business reasons.

Website Use

The content on this website is provided for general information only. It does not create a client relationship and should not be relied on as accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice specific to your business.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Manitoba and the applicable laws of Canada.
